The story:
Alo Chilaka comes from the village of the same name in Bensa, Ethiopia, grown at 2320 to 2400 MASL from the 74158 cultivar, among the highest lots our partners at Tanat work with this season. It went through a full natural process on raised beds, and the altitude alone tells you this cup was always going to be intense.

The taste:
Deep blueberry dominates from the first sip, layered with delicate white grapes through the middle and a floral hint of dried jasmine trailing on the finish. The body runs fuller than most naturals, giving the fruit real weight instead of letting it float on top, which keeps every cup feeling substantial.

The feeling:
Give it a Clever Dripper and some patience, letting the immersion draw out the blueberry without overdoing the acidity. A slow, deliberate coffee for the kind of morning where you actually sit down with your cup instead of drinking it on the move, ideally with nothing competing for your attention. Skip it if you're rushing out the door.

About the roastery

Tanat is a specialty coffee roastery from Paris, and its founder can back up the hype: Alexis Gagnaire is a former competitive barista who's podiumed at both the AeroPress Championship and the French Coffee Roasting Championship. The team travels to origin themselves, buying directly from farms and cooperatives they've known for years, and every batch gets roasted with the same care you'd expect from an atelier. No shortcuts, no pods, just clean, terroir-driven coffee.
