The story:
We fell head over heels for this lot because it rewrites the script on Ecuadorian coffee. Our partners at La Cabra teamed up with agricultural engineer Juan Peña for his latest project, Yacuri, in the remote Zamora-Chinchipe region. Tucked away in the deep south near the Peruvian border, this farm sits at a solid 1600 masl sweet spot. Thanks to its proximity to the Amazon basin, the air here is constantly thick with humidity, creating a unique microclimate that completely rounds out the edges of this washed Typica.
The taste:
If you think you know Juan Peña's high-voltage citrus style, think again. This cup drops the heavy acidity and delivers an incredibly plush, smooth wave of juicy stone fruit instead. The traditional jasmine top notes are beautifully softened here, shifting into a clean, calming flavor profile that mirrors premium white tea. It's silky, delicate, and swap-your-identity transparent.
The feeling:
This is engineered specifically for the black coffee purists who want to sit in complete silence and dissect every single nuance. It’s an omniroast that behaves like a fine botanical infusion when run through a pour-over, but can easily transform into a dangerously elegant, silky shot of espresso.
