The story:
This lot comes from the Bukure Women's Cooperative in Gicumbi, Rwanda, grown between 1800 and 2200 MASL by a group of women producers our partners at Heresy have worked with for several seasons. It went through a careful washed process for a clean, precise profile, and scored high enough with the SCA that it made the cut for Heresy's short microlot list.

The taste:
Red fruits and citrus open the cup together, trading the lead back and forth from sip to sip, while a delicate tea-like quality runs underneath the whole thing. A soft caramel sweetness shows up late and rounds off the finish, keeping the brightness from ever tipping into sharp. Precise and clean the whole way through.

The feeling:
Brew it in a Moccamaster and let the citrus and red fruit trade places sip by sip, without having to fuss over pour technique. It is precise enough to reward attention if you want to give it, but forgiving enough to still taste great on a lazy Sunday morning batch brew. Either way, the women behind this lot deserve the credit.

About the roastery

Heresy is a turbo nano roastery out of Poland, and they've got opinions. Since 2021 they've only roasted microlots scoring 86 points or higher, because life's too short for boring coffee. Founding roaster Piotr Jeżewski is a Q Grader trained by a World Champion, and the rest of the crew has judged national championships and run PR for some of Poland's biggest coffee names. No fussy tasting wheels, no gatekeeping, just small batches in brown jars they'd actually want to drink themselves.
