The story:
Moka Lekempti comes from the Lekempti region of western Ethiopia, made from traditional Heirloom varieties and processed as a natural. Our partners at Tanat roast it medium dark, which softens the typical Ethiopian brightness and gives it real espresso character. A version of Ethiopia for people who find lighter roasts too sharp, yet still crave aroma.

The taste:
Bright lemon lifts the cup at the start, followed by warm spices in the middle and a delicate floral finish. Acidity is gentler than in most Ethiopian naturals and the body stays balanced, so the cup reads layered and aromatic without turning sharp. It carries a lot of character for a medium dark roast.

The feeling:
Best on your espresso machine, where the spice and lemon come through in a short, aromatic shot. It also opens up in a V60 if you like variety on the bar. Pour it into a cortado on a slow afternoon, when you want a coffee with a bit of perfume to it and a lot of personality.

About the roastery

Tanat is a specialty coffee roastery from Paris, and its founder can back up the hype: Alexis Gagnaire is a former competitive barista who's podiumed at both the AeroPress Championship and the French Coffee Roasting Championship. The team travels to origin themselves, buying directly from farms and cooperatives they've known for years, and every batch gets roasted with the same care you'd expect from an atelier. No shortcuts, no pods, just clean, terroir-driven coffee.
