The story:
Our partners at Gringo secured this stellar natural microlot from the Karora washing station in Rwanda, and it is a certified banger. Run by the powerhouse duo Francine and Immaculée of Nyamurinda Coffee Growers, this 100% women-owned operation is crushing the game at an 1850 masl high-altitude sweet spot. They’ve spent five years dialing in their sun-drying protocol on raised beds, turning this Red Bourbon lot into a masterclass of heavy-hitting, unwashed complexity.
The taste:
This cup is an absolute trip. The natural processing mimics the distinct, deep sweetness of Japanese plum wine (Umeshu), throwing a massive wave of super-ripe plum and chewy dried apricot right at your face. Just when the dark fruit threatens to take over, a tart, high-voltage punch of cranberry acidity cuts through the body, locking the whole profile into a balanced, round, and syrupy finish.
The feeling:
This is for the flavor purists who want a filter brew with deep, complex layers but still demand a razor-sharp finish. If you want your morning pour over to taste like a high-end, boozy fruit infusion rather than standard diner sludge, Karora Natural is your new house rule. It’s a clean, heavy, and unapologetic cup engineered for serious coffee geeks.
